I was scheduled to take the trip from Snake River Correctional Institute located at Ontario, Oregon to the Oregon State Correctional Institute in Salem in February 2007. At 0430 the officer woke me up on the day I was to go and gave me plastic bags to pack my things in.

I’d met J– at admissions and orientation class. I was the inmate facilitator, he was a student. My job was to introduce various members of the correction facility’s staff to new inmates and to also explain some of the programs and services that were offered.

I wake up at 5:00 a.m. to the screaming pain of my sprained ankle. The medical staff told me they would be right back, that was ten hours ago. I drink a cup of coffee and decided I need to see medical.
